BREAKING: Yankees surprised by NYC vaccine mandate news

The management and players of the New York Yankees were surprised to know that the team also needs to comply with the vaccine mandate of New York City.

Yankees right-hander and union rep Jameson Taillon said Wednesday morning that as an outdoor sport they thought they are spared from the mandate.

“We’ve been playing with our entire roster at home. So that caught me really off guard,” Taillon said.

“But I know it’s already been said, but I know the (players association) and the Yankees are really looking into it,” Taillon added.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman said at the moment the team has two unvaccinated players as of Wednesday afternoon.

Cashman added that there were players who were unvaccinated last season who have since had the shots and are vaccinated now.

Meanwhile, a city spokesperson said it’s the same rule which has kept Nets star Kyrie Irving from playing home games at the Barclays Center.
