Police in Venice are looking into the cause of a green liquid patch that turned phosphorescent on Sunday in the renowned Grand Canal of the city.
A picture of the green liquid that covered the water near the arched Rialto Bridge was shared online by the Veneto region’s governor, Luca Zaia. Residents reported the patch.
Social media posts depict a vivid area of green in the canal next to a restaurant-lined embankment.
According to Zaia, authorities asked the police to investigate to ascertain who was at fault. Authorities for the environment were also testing the water.
