For killing seven newborns and trying to kill six more while working as a neonatal nurse at a hospital in northern England, a British judge sentenced Lucy Letby to life in prison.
On Monday, Letby was given the harshest punishment permitted by British law by Justice James Goss. A jury at Manchester Crown Court found Letby, 33, guilty of killing the infants after deliberating for 22 days.
Letby went on a year-long rampage, during which she preyed on the weaknesses of unwell newborns and their worried parents. Between June 2015 and June 2016, the victims, who included two triplet boys, died in the neonatal ward at the Countess of Chester Hospital in northwest England.
