Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, announced on Thursday that he would travel to Israel for one day to meet with some of the war’s victims.
The Democratic governor will fly out to Israel on Saturday after arriving on Friday. Where the governor would go was not specified in the announcement by Newsom’s office.
California will send medical supplies to the area, including the Gaza Strip, according to his office.
According to the Arab American Institute, California has the biggest population of Arab Americans in the country.
According to Brandeis University’s American Jewish Population Project, it also has the second-largest Jewish population in the country.
