The “Ma’aminim B’Rishon” party, which is led by the religious and traditional representatives on the city council, had its election signs vandalized on Sunday.
The signs had the words “murderers” and “death to the religious” inscribed all over them.
The party said, “In the west of the city, our signs were demolished and defaced. The city’s efforts to replicate the conflict between the secular and the religious that exists in other cities are heartbreaking to witness.
Inciting murder against the city’s religious and traditional population has crossed a line.
“We won’t allow ourselves to cross this line. Together, we will uphold the status quo that has prevailed in the city for the past 140 years out of respect for Jewish tradition and to thwart any attempt to disturb the delicate balance and harmony among the city’s citizens who coexist with each other in a spirit of mutual respect, goodwill, love, and open heart, all from a place of appreciation and honor without belittling anyone.
“We demand that those who instigate violence immediately cease doing so. Words have power, as we are all aware, so it is imperative that the instigation against a certain sector cease immediately.
