Captzem in Williamsburg: Thief Arrested After Fleeing Following Burglarizing Multiple Homes

By 04/06/2022 4:25 PMNo CommentsBy M. C. Millman

After receiving a frantic phone call from a resident regarding a burglar who had broken into a home in Williamsburg, Shomrim was on the scene in moments early Wednesday afternoon. The burglar vanished by the time Shomrim arrived. Even after launching a drone to aid in the search, the perpetrator was not to be found.

Only after Shomrim received another phone call about a black male running behind buildings from Lee Avenue and Penn Street was Shomrim able to take up the chase again. After a short pursuit, which included the getaway artist scaling a fire escape, running across roofs, through backyards, and even through a shul, he was finally surrounded by fleet-footed Shomrim volunteers.

The burglar was treated on the scene by EMS for a broken foot and subsequently arrested by officers from the 90th precinct of the NYPD.
