At the Arutz Sheva Jerusalem Conference in New York, Chagit Leviev, president and chief executive officer of Leviev Group USA and the daughter of billionaire Lev Leviev, spoke about the organization’s charitable work both in Israel and overseas.
We take part in a lot of charitable activities all over the world.
Our primary goal was to preserve Jewish identity, and we discovered that the best way to achieve that was by providing Jewish education.
As a result, we established hundreds of Jewish schools across the globe, according to Leviev.
When asked why this is important to her, she responded, “We were assigned to it. My father couldn’t talk when he visited the Lubavitcher Rebbe in the 1980s, but the Rebbe advised him, “You don’t need to speak much; you need to do a lot,” and he was given the task of reviving Jewish life in the former Soviet Union.
In response to a question on the impact of her charitable deeds, Leviev stated, “25 years ago, many Jewish families from the Soviet Union came to the US or Israel, so we founded schools to assist the children assimilate into Israeli society.
And in this place, we assist families in attending Jewish schools since they are expensive.
The first free Jewish school in America was founded by my father.
There are now thousands of alumni from that school scattered throughout several cities.
You can tell that the school’s alumni are eager to take part in all humanitarian activities since you see them enrolling their offspring.
Because I want to bring people together rather than say, “I believe in A and you believe in B,” I much prefer to emphasize my Jewishness rather than my political ideas.
She said that social media is a fantastic tool for promoting charitable causes.
