On Sunday night in the Geula district of Jerusalem, nearly a thousand demonstrators held a demonstration against cell phones.
Led by the Rebbe, who also came to demonstrate in front of the store, Toldos Avraham Yitzchak Chassidim proceeded to the store to protest.
The action quickly became a large-scale protest when hundreds of additional people gathered before the already-closed store.
Unsettling video footage from the scene shows fights between the demonstrators and the police.
A squad of mounted police can be seen riding into the Charedi demonstrators in the videos. Itamar Ben-Gvir, the minister of national security, tasked Commissioner Kobi Shabtai with looking into the officers’ actions and determining whether or not the use of force was appropriate.
A statement from the police reads in part, “At first, police allowed the demonstration to go lawfully, but at one point, demonstrators attempted to physically assault the cops separating them from the mobile phone store while trying to destroy it.
