The Associated Press and ChatGPT creator OpenAI announced a deal on Thursday that will allow the artificial intelligence firm to license the AP’s news story archive.
The two companies said in a joint statement that “the arrangement sees OpenAI licensing part of AP’s text archive, while AP will leverage OpenAI’s technology and product expertise.”
The deal’s price was kept confidential.
The statement read: “Both organizations believe in the proper construction and deployment of these AI systems and will benefit from each other’s existing knowledge in their respective industries.
The two businesses claimed to be looking into “potential use cases for generative AI in news products and services,” but they did not provide any further details.
