This past Sunday, March 6, Chaverim of Rockland was contacted by a hiker who was out with her mother. The mother had slipped on the trail and was in excruciating pain.
According to Yossi Margaretten, Coordinator of Chaverim of Rockland, “Chaverim immediately contacted the Ramapo Police Department and Hatzoloh so they could be on the scene when they brought her down.”
A total of three Chaverim’s Search & Rescue teams were promptly deployed to help the injured hiker. The first team entered the trail with a stretcher, with the second team following closely behind. The third team went up in case the other two teams needed relief.
The teams assessed the patient, splinted her fractured bone, and provided heat packs and blankets. Minutes later, the woman was transferred to the stretcher. One hour later, all three Chaverim teams and the patient and her daughter arrived at the parking lot. At that point, Hatzoloh took over and brought the injured party to the hospital.
