In a Tweet posted on Saturday, POTUS Mr. Joe Biden once again failed to take the blame for soaring gas prices and the failure to regulate them. This time, Biden pinned the blame directly onto those who owned gas stations and was praised by China for saying so.
“My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril,” Biden tweeted on Saturday. “Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now.”
After first blaming Russian President Vladimir Putin and the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Biden turned to another scapegoat, failing to take responsibility for the rising inflation across the country- once again.
The fact of the matter is that Gas stations don’t make much money per gallon of gas sold. On average, gas stations make about 15 cents per gallon sold and just 5 cents per gallon after expenses. In many cases, gas stations simply sell gas to help draw customers into their convenience stores, where they can make higher profits. Hence, rendering Biden’s tweet ineffective.
But not all disagreed with this comment. With his latest tweet, Biden got a standing ovation from China’s Communist Party.
“Now US President finally realized that capitalism is all about exploitation. He didn’t believe this before,” tweeted Chen Weihua, China Daily’s EU Bureau Chief tweeted in response.
Meanwhile, Jeff Bezos, the second richest person in the country, also blasted Biden’s message saying in a Tweet, “Ouch. Inflation is far too important a problem for the White House to keep making statements like this. It’s either straight ahead misdirection or a deep misunderstanding of basic market dynamics.”
