
On Tuesday, the NYPD arrested a man who punched a 12-year-old girl in the face while walking with her mother on a Greenwich Village street.
The NYPD said the girl was with her mom at the corner of Washington and Perry Sts. when the 34-year-old suspect walked up and suddenly walloped her at about 5:10 p.m.
The NYPD said the attack was unprovoked.
The suspect initially escaped after the attack, but cops quickly caught up with him several blocks away at Morton and Greenwich Sts., where he was arrested.
According to reports, medics treated the girl at the scene for minor injuries to her eye.
The NYPD already took custody of the man as charges were pending.
