According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a carjacking victim died after being pulled along with the car that a homicide suspect was allegedly driving as he fled on Thursday.
Around 5:00 p.m., detectives from the department’s Gang and Narcotics Division were observing 7th Avenue. Tursday and saw a murder suspect getting into a car with another individual, the LAPD said in a tweet.
A chase started when the detectives attempted to make a traffic stop. Police added that when the automobile wrecked during the pursuit, the murder suspect exited the passenger side and stole a passing car.
The carjacking victim was pulled behind the murder suspect’s car as it left Florence Avenue and Haas Avenue, the LAPD reported on Twitter.
As the suspect attempted to flee, the driver of the stolen automobile became caught up in the vehicle and was pulled for about a mile, according to KABC-TV.
According to authorities, the carjacking victim was declared deceased at the scene.
The car overturned at the intersection of Florence and Prairie avenues in Inglewood, but the suspect refused to exit it, resulting in a confrontation with police.
“For two hours, SWAT and K9 bargained with the murder suspect to let him out of the car. Ultimately, the murder suspect was taken into custody without a hitch, according to the police.
Both the suspect’s and the victim’s names were not immediately known.
