According to reports, the university is looking into four Jewish academics at CUNY for allegedly discriminating against BDS campaigners and extreme Islamist antisemitic activists.
Students and Faculty for Equality at CUNY (SAFE CUNY) published the following statement on Twitter on Sunday: “Four Zionist Jewish Professors who complained about antisemitism on their campuses have now been placed under investigation by CUNY for “discrimination” against BDS and radical Islamist antisemitic activists.
The group claimed to have “all the details,” but they were unable to divulge them at this time because they were trying “to help these [professors] get their ducks in a row in a few ways that could take weeks or more.”
“This story is 100% confirmed and true,” the organization wrote in a follow-up tweet. We can provide two additional details, namely that all four professors are members of SAFE CUNY.
The real news here is that CUNY is now expanding this witch hunt for Jews who complain about antisemitism and has added two more professors to the two we had previously reported about.
Another noteworthy development was the admission by Professor Jeffrey Lax, the founder of SAFE CUNY and a vocal opponent of the school’s virulent antisemitism, that he was the subject of the initial investigation.
For those asking, yes, I am one of the four,” Lax tweeted on Monday. “I’ve always said that even though I may have been the first person they did this to, I won’t be the last. Here we are, then, an academic faculty cleansing in the manner of Germany in the 1930s.
The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) filed a lawsuit against CUNY last year, claiming that the institution did not take antisemitism seriously.
Lax was one of six CUNY academics who filed a federal civil rights lawsuit the year before, alleging that their workplace had been hostile due to their religion.
