The Satmar Rebbe, Rav Aharon Teitelbaum shlit”a, stands by davening during his yearly trip to the town, which is set to start today, when a driver under the influence of narcotics slams his car into the Chabad of Palm Springs shul, crashing into the bais medrash at the precise location.
The incident happened on Shabbat morning right after davening, while the Chabad shliach for Palm Springs and another person were still inside the bais medrash.
The careless car severely damaged the shul on East Palm Canyon Drive.
No one was hurt inside the Shul or outside, Bichasdei Hashem.
The driver wasn’t gravely hurt, but shalosh seudos had to be performed outside because mispalelim couldn’t continue to daven in the synagogue for the rest of the day.
When visiting the city throughout the week, Rav Aharon shlit” a davens at the Chabad of Palm Springs and has his minyan on Shabbat.
