Numerous Hollywood entertainers, including actors, comedians, and executives, signed an open letter to US President Joe Biden on Monday thanking him for his efforts in securing the release of two American hostages and two elderly Israelis from Gaza while also urging the release of all prisoners held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
The letter, which, according to “Variety” launches an official campaign called “Don’t Leave the Kidnapped Behind”, is signed by Madonna, Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Bradley Cooper, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gwyneth Paltrow, Adam and Jackie Sandler, Ben Stiller, Courteney Cox, Ewan McGregor, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Hamm, Lena Del Rey, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde, Orlando Bloom, Sting, Regina Spektor, Aaron Sorkin, Eugene Levy, Adam Levin and his model wife Hattie Prinsloo, and dozens more.
We are encouraged by the release of the two American hostages, Judith Ranaan and her daughter Natalie Ranaan, on Friday, as well as by the liberation of two Israeli women, Nurit Cooper and Yocheved Lifshitz, whose husbands are still being held captive.
Our tremendous anxiety at the fact that 220 innocent individuals, including 30 children, are being held captive by terrorists and face torture and maybe death tempers our relief.
They were captured by Hamas during the brutal murder on October 7, in which more than 1,400 Israelis were killed, including women and children who were beheaded and families who were burned alive.
We implore everyone to be vigilant until all captives are freed. No hostage may be abandoned. We need to bring them home, whether they are Americans, Argentinians, Australians, Azerbaijanis, Brazilians, British, Canadians, Chileans, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Eritreans, Filipinos, French, German, Israelis, Italians, Kazakhs, Mexicans, Panamanians, Paraguayans, Peruvians, Poles, Portuguese, Russians, South Africans, Spanish, Sri Lankans, Thai, Ukrainians, or any other nationality.
700 well-known Hollywood figures, including Michael Douglas, Liev Schreiber, Amy Schumer, Chris Pine, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gal Gadot, and more, had previously voiced their support for Israel’s actions in Gaza and urged people not to be swayed by “misinformation” propagated by Iran. It’s terrorism. This is wrong.
Hamas’ acts are not justified or explained in any way, as they claimed. “Everyone ought to condemn these heinous terrorist acts. They are a terrorist group whose leaders advocate killing Jews all around the world. CCFP calls on our friends and associates in the entertainment sector to strongly condemn Hamas and do all in their power to persuade the terrorist group to hand back the rockets.
