Rockland County Executive Ed Day wrote a stern and irate letter to Governor Kathy Hochul on Friday, stating his worries about recent court filings by Mayor Eric Adams, that appear to be an attempt to shift the cost of the „migrant crisis” to nearby areas like his. Day penned the following in his third letter to the governor:
„This is my third letter imploring you to listen to the people across the State, who are overwhelmingly opposed to the City of New York’s uncoordinated decompression strategy, as this sanctuary city pushes you to force communities outside of NYC to take in migrants… „This is a crisis of the city’s own making, as its own policies are the reason the migrants are choosing to go there.“
These emergency orders, it said, „have nothing to do with regrettable remarks you once made about bigotry or racism and everything to do with legitimate concerns raised by the majority of residents throughout NYS.“ „A mayor cannot break the law and impose his will on Events taking place outside of his jurisdiction.“
According to the letter, „I also urge you to demand that Mayor Adams act like a leader and take responsibility for the municipality he swore to serve, rather than foist his issues onto others.“
