According to Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida will soon be the only U.S. state where El Al will service two significant cities, reflecting the state’s expanding connections with Israel.
The national airline of Israel will begin offering direct flights to Tel Aviv from Miami and Fort Lauderdale in the fall after moving its U.S. headquarters from New York to Margate, Florida.
About 30 miles separate the two airports in Florida.
Following the termination of American Airlines’ nearly two-year-old nonstop service from Miami to Tel Aviv in March, action was taken.
The governor ascribed the “historic migration” of American Jews and Israeli Americans to the Sunshine State due to his pro-business policies, which increased demand for El Al’s services there.
DeSantis, who is in Israel with a business delegation, also disclosed that Avenger Flight Group of Fort Lauderdale and El Al would construct a training facility there.
The governor pledged to reject anyone who opposes Israel’s right to exist earlier on Thursday when he signed a bill to improve his state’s capacity to fight antisemitism.
The symposium was hosted by the Republican lawmaker and the Museum of Tolerance at the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
“Antisemitism” is when a person primarily concentrates on one Jewish state and holds it to a different standard than any other nation in the world, according to DeSantis.
“In Florida, we are doing all we can to improve our capacity to hold individuals accountable when their actions genuinely cross the line into threatening behavior. The Republican, thinking about running for president in 2024, continued, “We are fighting back.
“We must reject those who oppose Israel’s right to exist,” he stated.
