Beyond Florida’s Gulf Coast, Hurricane Ian’s destruction was extensive.
The rabbi and his son Levi, a certified lifeguard, commandeered a boat and set out along flooded neighborhood streets to rescue the family after learning that they were trapped on the second floor of their home in Kissimmee, just south of Orlando, and that calls to 911 were not being responded to because of more urgent and immediate threats to life.
Unprecedented flooding and destruction are plaguing the entire state.
