Rabbi Shmuel Kamenetsky, the senior member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Agudath Yisrael, was transported to a hospital in Philadelphia on Monday after experiencing what appeared to be a stroke.
Rabbi Kamenetzky, 98, expressed discomfort after participating in the levaya of Rabbi Meir Hershkowitz, the Rosh Yeshiva of Stamford, in Lakewood on Monday.
He was brought to the hospital, where medical professionals discovered that he had had a stroke.
According to family members, his alertness and responsiveness are stable, but the coming hours will be crucial for his medical condition because of his old age.
Please offer prayers for Rav Shmuel Ben Eta Etil, the Rosh Yeshiva, to recover quickly.
Former President Donald Trump complimented the work of Torah U’Mesorah and mentioned Rav Shmuel, who sits on the rabbinical board, during a speech at the Torah U’Mesorah president’s conference in December.
Rav Shmuel has a “young man” appearance, according to Trump. They told me your age, and I’m unsure I can believe it. There must be something pleasant about becoming a rabbi, I guess.
