A Sunday morning fire at their Bronx home claimed the lives of three children, including a 15-month-old infant girl and an adult, according to FDNY officials.
Around six in the morning, a fire started in a two-story brick house on Quimby Avenue close to Castle Hill Avenue.
It was reported that two boys, 12 and 10, perished at the site.
The baby girl and a 21-year-old were brought to Jacobi Medical Center by emergency personnel, but the girl couldn’t be rescued, according to sources.
According to police sources, the victims are thought to be members of the large family that resides in the house.
The source also reported that two more guys, aged 41 and 22, were hurt.
According to FDNY officials, three firemen were harmed while putting out the fire.
The family has resided in the home for the previous five years or so with at least eight people.
A firefighter may be seen in a social media video sprinting from the flames to an ambulance while cradling the young girl.
As EMS personnel conduct CPR, additional firefighters can be seen taking the victim out of the house.
When firefighters arrived, the second floor was covered in flames and thick smoke, and the fire had already spread to the ground floor.
Twenty-five FDNY units totaling more than 100 firefighters, arrived at the area.
Investigations continue to determine the origin of the fire.
