In a ramming attack Thursday morning close to the Maccabim crossing on Route 443 to Modiin, a terrorist operating a commercial truck killed one Israeli teenager and injured a number of others.
One of the victims was seriously hurt and succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The others only sustained minor injuries, while one other person suffered moderate to serious injuries.
Shaare Zedek Medical Center and Sheba Medical Center have received the victims’ evacuation. Three of those hurt, according to the IDF, were IDF personnel. We’ve informed their families.
Security personnel rushed after the truck’s terrorist driver as he continued to drive past the checkpoint.
He was ultimately killed close to the Hashmnoaim checkpoint, some 10 miles from the attack’s scene.
Later, according to police sources, the driver was a Palestinian man from Judea, age 41, with a legitimate work visa for entering Israel. According to the initial reports, a vehicle struck roughly three pedestrians near the Maccabim checkpoint while traveling into Modi’in.
MDA paramedics and EMTs treated the patients and transported them to the hospital.
In less than a day, there have been four terrorist assaults, four of which have resulted in one fatality and eleven injuries. Attacks increased in August, killing five Israelis and injuring hundreds more.
