Shomrim volunteers from various neighborhoods and community officials, joined local police departments honoring tragically slain New York City police officer, Jason Rivera, laid to rest today in Hartsdale. Mayor Eric Adams was in attendance along with numerous other elected officials and community leaders who came to pay their respects for the ultimate sacrifice made in the line of duty.
Westchester County police and Yonkers police coordinated a “Hero’s Salute” to honor Rivera, one of two NYPD officers who died after a shooting in Harlem on January 21. Officer Wilbert Mora, 27, was also murdered in that shooting.
A funeral for Rivera, 22, took place at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 28, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan. The burial took place at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale in a private ceremony.
