An official familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Thursday that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has approved for Canada to abolish its need for travelers to receive certain vaccinations before entering the country by the end of September.
Foreign nationals must be immunized to enter Canada, the same as the United States. Shortly, no change to the mandate is anticipated in the United States.
Foreigners without vaccinations are currently required to pass mandatory entrance tests and endure a 14-day quarantine before being allowed to enter Canada.
According to the official, Trudeau has consented to let a cabinet order mandating COVID-19 immunization requirements at the border expire on September 30.
This week, the official stated that the prime minister needed to provide the final approval.
Due to their lack of authority to speak publicly about the situation, the official said anonymously.
The Liberal administration of Justin Trudeau is still debating whether to keep requiring travelers to wear face masks on buses and airlines.
If the Blue Jays enter the playoffs, unvaccinated professional athletes, including baseball players in Major League Baseball, will be permitted to play in Toronto.
They are currently prohibited from entering Canada over the border.
