The Buffalo Bills safety, who needed to be revived on the field during a game at Cincinnati on Monday, continued to make progress in his recovery on Saturday, according to doctors, who praised Damar Hamlin’s cerebral function as “outstanding.”
The Bills reported in their daily report on Hamlin that the player is still breathing at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center but is still in serious condition.
Hamlin’s removal from a ventilator and demonstration of speech skills on Friday marked a significant advancement in his recovery.
On Saturday evening, there was a tweet on the 24-year-old’s verified Twitter account saying that any love put into the world came back three times as much and thanked all who have “reached out and prayed.”
It also added that the response to his injury would make Hamlin stronger. The number “3” and a heart-shaped emoji were added to the message.
“Putting love into the world returns three times as much… thanks for everyone who has reached out and prayed,” the tweet stated.
This will strengthen me on the road to recovery; keep praying for me! ”
Additionally, on Friday, Hamlin made a quick live videoconference appearance for his teammates, stating, “Love you boys” while making several hand gestures.
On Monday night, after making what appeared to be a routine tackle in the first quarter against the Bengals, Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and passed out.
The match was first put on hold before being formally called off later in the week.
When they meet the New England Patriots on Sunday to wrap off the regular season, the Bills intend to respect Hamlin, the first responders, and the medical professionals who cared for the player.
Along with a pregame moment of support, painting Hamlin’s No. 3 on the 30-yard line, pregame jerseys with “Love for Damar 3,” and “3” jersey patches for the Bills, the NFL will also express support for Hamlin throughout all of Week 18 games, which begin Saturday afternoon.
The Pittsburgh Steelers honored Hamlin on Saturday by donating toys, books, and educational materials to Kelly & Nina’s Daycare, where the player organizes an annual toy drive.
Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation has also received contributions from supporters, athletes, and team owners.
As of Saturday afternoon, the foundation had little over $8.2 million in funding.
Putting love into the world comes back 3xs as much… thankful for everyone who has reached out and prayed. This will make me stronger on the road to recovery, keep praying for me! 🫶🏾3️⃣
