At least seven passengers aboard a Hawaiian Airlines aircraft from Honolulu to Sydney required medical attention as a result of the strong turbulence.
Five hours into the journey on Thursday, the jet, which was carrying 163 passengers and 12 crew members, hit some turbulence, according to officials speaking to Hawaii News Now.
After successfully touching down in Sydney, the plane underwent an inspection. A doctor who was on board the flight was required to treat four passengers and three flight attendants, according to the Honolulu television station.
When asked for an update via email on Monday, airline staff didn’t respond right away.
According to passenger Sultan Baskonyali, “the plane just dropped.”

On a Hawaiian Airlines aircraft last year, extreme turbulence resulted in 25 passengers being wounded.
Two crew members and four passengers suffered significant injuries. Minor damage was done to the aircraft.
According to a report by the National Transportation Safety Board, the pilot of the flight from Phoenix to Honolulu on December 18 told investigators that the weather was clear and calm until a cloud suddenly appeared in front of the plane and that there was no time to reverse course.
Such turbulence is exceptional, according to Hawaiian Airlines Chief Operating Officer Jon Snook at the time, who also noted that the airline had not recently seen anything like it.
Even though some of the injured were not wearing seat belts, the indication to secure them was on at the time, he claimed.
According to the NTSB investigation, it occurred roughly 40 minutes before arrival in Honolulu.
