Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, Israeli fighter jets attacked targets in Damascus, the capital of Syria, injuring two troops, according to a report by the state-run media.

According to the news agency SANA, Israeli Air Force airplanes fired missiles against a variety of locations in and around Damascus from above the Golan Heights.

According to SANA, which cited a military source, Syrian air defenses countered the Israeli invasion by shooting down “most” of the missiles. Syria frequently asserts that it has stopped Israeli rockets, but military specialists don’t believe this.

Hezbollah’s military facilities and ammunition storage facilities in Damascus were the focus of the attack, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a group connected to the Syrian opposition located in Britain.

Additionally, it was alleged that the attack damaged property and injured two Syrian soldiers. It wasn’t immediately apparent how the two soldiers were doing. Israeli airstrikes have recently claimed the lives of multiple Syrian soldiers who were deployed in air defense groups.

Israel had launched 20 such attacks in Syria by the beginning of 2023. IAF jets are said to have attacked targets close to Damascus on July 6 in the most recent reported Israeli operation in Syria.

Days prior to that purported Israeli strike, a Syrian anti-aircraft missile detonated in Israeli airspace. Later, the IAF claimed that, in retaliation, it had attacked the Syrian air defense battery.

The IDF has acknowledged executing hundreds of sorties over the past ten years against Iran-backed forces that were trying to establish a presence in the nation, despite its general policy of declining to comment on particular strikes in Syria.

According to the Israeli military, it also targets shipments of weapons thought to be headed for these organizations, most notably Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

Furthermore, Syrian air defense systems have frequently been the target of assaults attributed to Israel.
