The dream of New York governor Kathy Hochul to retain her post in the 2022 gubernatorial race is now closer to becoming a reality.
On Wednesday, the Bronx and Queens Democratic organizations have both expressed support to the reelection bid of Hochul.
“I am proud to endorse her campaign for a full term,” said state Sen. Jamaal Bailey, who heads the Bronx Democratic Party.
“It is critical that our communities are part of the discussion as we continue to move the Bronx forward. It is important that we have a governor who will listen to the needs of our community from those in a position to personally relay solutions. I believe Gov. Hochul is doing that,” Bailey added.
Rep. Gregory Meeks, who leads the Queens Dems, said the party is “proud” to stand with Hochul and support her reelection bid.
”Gov. Hochul’s new, transformational Brooklyn-Queens Connector will serve almost 90,000 daily riders and reduce travel time for working New Yorkers living in transit deserts,” Meeks said.
“For these reasons and more, we look forward to working with Gov. Hochul and Lieutenant Gov. Benjamin to deliver results that strengthen our outer boroughs,” Meeks added.
The endorsement came as Hochul also leads in the latest poll where she got the support of 46% of those surveyed last month.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Hochul expressed gratitude to the twin endorsements.
