A 99-year-old Auschwitz survivor named Lily Ebert, who now resides in England, has been awarded the MBE by King Charles.
After the CBE and OBE, the MBE, or Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, is the highest honor conferred by the order of the British Empire.
Dov Forman, Lily’s great-grandson, who recorded multiple Tiktok videos with his great-grandmother during the coronavirus era, is credited with popularizing Lily’s tale.
This week, Lily traveled to Windsor Castle, the home of the British monarch, to accept the distinction from the king himself.
Forman chronicled Lily’s tale in the bestseller book Lily’s Promise, which debuted in 2021.
Lily addressed King Charles during the event and said, “I was in horror, Auschwitz. What a blessing it is to be here.
