Improperly Locked Home Burglarized as Owner Vacationed in Catskills

By 08/08/2022 4:54 PMNo CommentsBy YidInfo Staff

After an owner returned from a vacation in the Catskill Mountains, a poorly locked home in Boro Park was broken into.

Boro Park Shomrim volunteers who responded to the scene discovered that the burglar had pried his way through an improperly locked basement entrance.

The Boro Park Shomrim added that after making his way into the home, the still-unidentified suspect managed to smash open a safe and make off with a large amount of jewelry and other valuables.

Given the incident, the Bork Park Shomrim called on the residents to ensure that all windows and doors were locked correctly when leaving home.

Aside from locking the door, it is also best to leave some lights on in and around the home and have a friend or neighbor pick up the mail to make it appear that someone is home.

If you see anything suspicious, please call the Boro Park Shomrim 24-hour emergency hotline at 718-871-6666.
