
Kim Reynolds, a Republican governor of Iowa, met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday in Jerusalem and signed a declaration endorsing the Jewish state on the occasion of its 75th anniversary of independence.
For her “unreserved support” of Israel, Reynolds received praise from Netanyahu. They talked about economic collaboration, especially in relation to agricultural technologies.
A bipartisan congressional delegation led by Reps. Jimmy Panetta (D-Calif.) and Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) met with Netanyahu on Tuesday in the Israeli capital.
The Iranian nuclear threat and artificial intelligence technologies were the main topics of discussion. Prior to this year, each U.S. A declaration recognizing Jewish American Heritage Month was signed by 26 Republican governors.
“As public servants and governors, we support and recognize May as Jewish American Heritage Month and call for observance to celebrate the historical, economic, and cultural impact of the Jewish-American people who have strengthened our communities and emboldened our nation throughout history,” they said in their letter.
They continued by expressing their pride that the United States was the first to recognize Israel and mentioning the “unbreakable bond” that exists between the two countries due to their shared principles and how this eventually results in successful cooperation in the fields of business, education, and culture.
Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida and a Republican contender for president, made his fifth trip to Israel in April. DeSantis highlighted that Judea and Samaria, the historical biblical heartland, should be regarded as “disputed territory,” as the Trump administration phrased it.
He also stressed that there has never been a Palestinian state anywhere, even in the Land of Israel.
