Instagram announced it was addressing a problem that appeared to have shut out many users early on Monday.
Some users said they could still navigate through their feeds even after they were locked out.
Others who tweeted about it claimed to have been cut off. Some said their following decreased due to locked accounts, which makes sense.
It wasn’t clear if the issue was internal or if the social media platform had been hacked.
The startup, which Facebook parent Meta owns, did not respond to an email immediately.
