According to an audio recording made public on Wednesday, the Islamic State group’s leader, Abu al-Hassan al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, was recently slain in combat. He said nothing more in-depth.
Al-Qurayshi is the second IS leader in perishing this year, as the terrorist organization has been attempting to resurge with fatal strikes carried out by its sleeper cells in Iraq and Syria.
Little was known about al-Qurayshi, who assumed control of the organization after his predecessor, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi, was killed in a U.S. raid in northwest Syria in February.
The death struck the organization routed in Syria and Iraq two years ago.
The declaration was made by the IS spokesman Abu Omar al-Muhajer at a time when the group has been attempting to carry out lethal operations in areas of Syria and Iraq where the extremists once proclaimed a caliphate.
Al-Muhajer remarked that the guy “died fighting the enemies of God, killing several of them before being killed like a warrior on the battlefield.”
Al-Muhajer claimed that the group’s new head was Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurayshi.
Al-Muhajer declared, “He is one of the seasoned warriors and one of the devoted sons of the Islamic State.”
About Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurayshi, not much is known.
When questioned about al-passing Qurayshi’s in Washington, the U.S. John Kirby, the director of the National Security Council, stated: “We welcome the news of the death of another ISIS senior.
At this point, I am unable to offer any additional operational information.
Since founder Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was chased down by the Americans in operation in the northwest in October 2019, Al-Qurayshi is the third commander to be assassinated.
Nobody took responsibility for the murder.
