On Sunday, the continued efforts of the Chareidim against the owner of a cell phone store who went against the Communications Vaad, were met with more police brutality.

Using stun grenades and batons, the Israeli police tried suppressing the swarm of 1,000 protesters on Sunday, who were gathered outside “Pninei Machshev and Cellular” on Yechezkel Street in Geula. A number of protesters were arrested, and many others were lightly injured.

The event was led by Rabbi Yaakov Meir Schechter of Breslov and joined by many Breslov Chasidim as well as Charedim from nearby Meah Shearim. The Sunday protest was the largest amidst the string of protests against such stores, by those who are upset that the stores don’t comply with the Charedi “Communications Vaad.”

Over the entire span of the protests in Geula, numerous Charedim have been wrongfully arrested and beaten- simply for standing up to their cause.
