On Thursday, the Israel Meteorological Service issued a severe heat wave warning for the whole nation.
August weather will be typical on Friday, but on Saturday, temperatures will start to soar throughout Israel, notably in the interior and mountain regions.
On Sunday, the heat wave is predicted to reach its height, with scorching temperatures expected in the eastern valleys and mountains, with several locations expected to reach temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) and some exceeding 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit).
Even though the daily peaks along the coast will be lower, at 30 to 35 degrees Celsius (86 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit), there will still be a lot of humidity, which means that the beaches and the surrounding areas will still be extremely hot.
The Israel Meteorological Service predicts an unusual occurrence for this season with medium-to-high clouds in the sky that could bring lightning. On Monday, temperatures will begin to fall, and the remainder of the week will see weather that is typical for this time of year.
Last month, a heat wave that afflicted the Balkans, much of Europe, and the eastern Mediterranean region also touched Israel.
The Health Ministry advised people to drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration and heatstroke and advised the elderly and those with chronic illnesses to stay out of the sun. Additionally, authorities outlawed setting fires in open spaces and put an aerial firefighting squadron on high alert.
