An Israeli official revealed on Tuesday that their stance on opposing the reopening of a U.S. Consulate in Yerushalayim will remain and no amount of pressure will make them change their policy on the matter.
Justice Minister Gideon Sa’ar said Israel will never compromise on this issue” for generations to come.
“No way, no way,” Sa’ar said.
Sa’ar statement came after President Joe Biden expressed a desire to reopen the consulate to rebuild relations with the Palestinians, who seek parts of Yerushalayim, as well as the West Bank and Gaza Strip, for a hoped-for state.
Sources said the issue will likely come up during a visit to Washington on Tuesday by Foreign Minister Yair Lapid.
