
By the end of the year, Paraguay will relocate its embassy back to Jerusalem, raising the total number of nations with embassies in the city to five, the Israeli Foreign Ministry stated on Wednesday.
The ratification, which occurred only hours after Santiago Pea of Paraguay was sworn in as president, is evidence of growing Latin American support for Israel.
According to the ministry, Israel will also restore its embassy in Paraguay, strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Following a meeting with Pea only hours after taking office, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen declared, “We are continuing to strengthen Jerusalem’s international status as Israel’s eternal capital.” We shall keep fortifying the long-standing ties between the State of Israel and the Jewish People and Latin America.
The Paraguayan president was invited to Israel by Israel’s senior diplomat to attend the opening of Israel’s embassy in Jerusalem.
