According to a Thursday Al-Arabiya report, Iran’s Meraj Airlines has started operating direct flights from Iran to Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
According to Israel’s Channel 12, Israeli defense authorities have raised the fear that the flights will be used to transport vital supplies and weaponry to the terrorist group Hezbollah.
Iran and Lebanon are connected by planes operated by Iranian carriers Mahan Air and Iran Air, but the article speculates that the new route could represent a recent attempt by Iran and Hezbollah to enter Lebanon with weapons.
Meraj flies to Damascus International Airport as well. Israel is said to have attacked this airport frequently in recent years.
