Two high-ranking officials in Israel said the stoning of vehicles in Southern Israel is “an act of terrorism, pure and simple, particularly when it is against mass transportation where a single attack could claim many lives.”
In a joint-statement, Transportation Minister Merav Michaeli and Public Security Minister Omer Barlev said they will do their best to put a stop to the spate of incidents in which rocks were thrown at buses and bring the suspects to justice.
“We will not allow this to continue,” Barlev said.
Barlev revealed that their people on the ground are making headway in their surveillance operation which resulted in significant arrests and the quick apprehension of suspects.
He said with the presence of the local police in the area the south now is longer lawless.
Sources said the two Israeli officials made the statement after a number of attacks on buses in the area as residents of the south called for better enforcement amid what they claim is a state of widespread lawlessness.
