The Israel Securities Authority (ISA), which is modeled after the SEC in the US, will be led for the first time by a chareidi alumnus of Chevron Yeshiva.
The authority protects the interests of the general public who invest in securities by policing and monitoring the mutual fund industry’s operations, keeping an eye on corporate reports, ensuring good management, and carrying out other duties.
Sefi (Yosef) Singer, 44, is a partner at Herzog-Fox-Neeman’s Corporate and Securities Department and is in charge of the company’s bankruptcy and insolvency practice.
He held many roles in the Ministry of Justice up until recently, including head of insolvency and taxation, in charge of special affairs in the Department of Management, and in charge of special affairs in the Department of Counseling and Legislation.
Insolvency processes involving businesses, financial institutions, and boards of directors are assisted by Seffy’s firm.
He collaborates closely with the firm’s Litigation, Banking, and Finance divisions in order to achieve this.
Seffy oversaw the government’s and the Knesset’s development of the Insolvency and Economic Rehabilitation Law, 2018, as part of his role at the Ministry of Justice.
Despite the objections of attorney Asi Messing, the legal adviser to the Treasury, who believed Singer lacked the necessary credentials for the job, the Appointments Committee upheld Singer’s appointment.
Singer’s appointment was endorsed by Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich, who said, “I would like to congratulate attorney Sefi Singer and wish him tremendous success.
I have faith in Sefi and the skills he brings to the table. I appreciate the appointments committee’s approval of the appointment since it will benefit the ISA and the Israeli economy.
He has experience in both the public and commercial sectors in economic matters, particularly with regard to securities.
