Richie Taylor of the NYPD assures the Jewish community that New York City is not currently threatened by assault.

Mr. Taylor, an orthodox Jew, affirms that New York City is not included in the FBI’s warning about a danger to shuls.

There are no credible threats against the Jewish community in New York City or any other community in the city, he declared in response to the FBI’s tweet from the Newark office about a widespread genuine threat against synagogues in New Jersey.

The Community Affairs Outreach Unit of the NYPD is under the command of Mr. Taylor.

The FBI’s Newark branch issued a stern warning on Thursday, saying it had “credible information” about a general but extensive threat against shuls throughout New Jersey.

A senior law enforcement official was quoted in News 4 New York as saying that the warning was made out of “an excess of caution” and that the FBI had classified the threat as “wide.”

Part of the FBI tweet says, “We ask at this time that you take all security procedures to protect your community and facility.”

“We’ll provide further details as soon as we can. Be on guard. When in doubt, call the cops.
