On Monday morning, Mayor Eric Adams criticized Rep. Jim Jordan and House Republicans for engaging in a “political stunt” and displaying “hypocrisy” in preparation for the hearing they will hold later that day to review Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s crime policy.
Bragg’s office recently obtained the first criminal charge against a former president, and Bragg has received death threats because of the case.
Many Democrats saw Jordan’s hearing on Monday at the Jacob Javits Federal Building in lower Manhattan as a ruse to undermine Bragg in his pursuit of Trump, an ally of the Ohio Republican.
On Monday, Adams stated on MSNBC’s Morning Joe that “coming here and highlighting DA Bragg is just really a political stunt.” Whenever the former president visits the city, he frequently brings people from outside who attempt to upend our way of life.
