The Ukraine video coordinator for the French international news agency Agence France-Presse was reportedly murdered on Tuesday during a rocket attack close to the eastern Ukrainian city of Bakhmut.

According to a tweet from AFP, other agency journalists were with Arman Soldin at the time of the Grad rocket bombardment.

According to French media agencies, the late-afternoon incident happened close to Chasiv Yar, a town near Bakhmut. Bakhmut has been the subject of the most protracted war struggle for the past nine months as Russian soldiers attempt to take the city.

According to the French media, Soldin was 32 years old and was born in Sarajevo, now Bosnia’s capital.

AFP expressed its “devastation” at Soldin’s passing and “heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.”

French journalist Frederic Leclerc-Imhoff, employed by BFM-TV in Ukraine, was assassinated in May 2022, close to Severodonetsk in the east.
