Leading Rabbis Encourage Yeshiva Students to Support the Judicial Reform Publicity Campaign

By 03/24/2023 8:13 AMNo CommentsBy YidInfo Staff

Senior Rabbis from the Dati Leumi community have sent a letter to yeshiva students in what appears to be an unprecedented move, urging them to educate the public about the need for judicial reform.

The Rabbis stress in their letter the significance of Religious Zionist yeshiva students participating in the struggle to accurately and effectively communicate the issues to the general public by taking to the streets.

Rabbis Dov Lior, Chaim Steiner, David Chai Hacoheh, Shlomo Aviner, Shmuel Eliyahu, and Yigal Levinstein are among those who have signed the letter.

“Baruch Hashem, we have earned that in recent elections, leaders were chosen who seek to resist the usurpation of power by the judges and their friends without the consent of the community, without being elected,” the letter begins.

According to a translation of the letter, it goes on to say that “unfortunately, there is a small group of anarchists which receives donations from abroad to disseminate lies about the government using all the tools of mass media, to convey the impression that these reforms will turn the country into a dictatorship, that Israel will turn into Iran, and women will be enslaved.”

“It’s as if right-wing and religious people lack the capacity for critical thought as if the judiciary has no real flaws, as if the entire goal is to exonerate the prime minister from his trial.”

We must mobilize in favor of repairing this country’s flawed legal system. Also, we must assist everyone who unknowingly accepts the misinformation and help them see the reality.

Everyone should take whatever action they can, including holding signs at intersections, explaining issues, and making financial contributions. We will succeed if we all put in our due diligence.
