Liberia declared on Tuesday that it would open an embassy in Israel.
During a meeting in Jerusalem, the president of the West African nation, George Weah, informed Israel’s foreign minister, Eli Cohen, about the plan.
“I applaud Liberia’s plans to establish an embassy in Israel, which would strengthen the friendly connections between the two nations.
One of Israel’s closest allies on the African continent is Liberia, according to Cohen.
We agreed to work together to strengthen economic cooperation in the areas of energy, agriculture, and water, using Israeli knowledge and experience and promoting commercial delegations in Israel and Liberia.
Cohen continued, “I thanked the president of Liberia, George Weah, for their support for Israel in the international institutions.
According to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Liberia is one of Israel’s closest allies on the continent of Africa and supports it when voting in international bodies encouraging collaboration in the areas of agriculture, energy, and commerce.
Liberia declared the creation of a trade office in Jerusalem last year, claiming that it would eventually turn into the nation’s first embassy in Israel.
Earlier on Tuesday, Weah and a group led by various African ministers met in Jerusalem with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
Herzog stressed the significance of Liberia establishing a permanent mission there since it would considerably expand the possibilities for collaboration.
It is such an honor to have you here.
Prior to a working discussion, Herzog stated, “I think the relationship between Israel and Liberia has enormous potential, and your visit here is a token of friendship and this great potential.”
Weah had a tremendous career as a well-known soccer player for teams in France, Italy, and England, scoring more than 200 goals for his clubs and nation, the Israeli president said.
