According to authorities, a guy armed with an axe and a sword entered the New York Times building on Thursday and demanded to speak to the political section.
He surrendered his weapons and waited for help when he was denied access.
Following a 911 call reporting a guy with a knife, according to the New York Police Department, officers went to the Times building in midtown Manhattan soon after noon.
Building security informed the responding officers that the individual was carrying two firearms and asked to talk with a specific newspaper staff member.
He was brought to the hospital for a checkup.
