Mayor Eric Adams will visit Israel for the first time since taking office on the following Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

According to the mayor’s office, Adams will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other top officials to “discuss coordinated efforts to combat antisemitism.”

“Mayor Adams is eager to visit Jerusalem and Tel Aviv next week to meet with Israeli leaders, gain firsthand knowledge of cutting-edge technologies, and strengthen our group’s efforts to fight antisemitism,” a City Hall representative, who would not be named, told JNS.

The representative continued, “New York City and Israel share a special affinity as the two countries with the greatest Jewish populations in the world.

The mayor hopes that this trip will allow them to improve their connection. The mayor’s journey would be his first abroad since being elected last year.

The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York is also sponsoring the trip, and Emily Kutner, director of public relations at UJA-Federation of New York, told JNS that her organization was “proud to host Mayor Adams in Israel.”

According to Kutner, “Israel and New York City both have a very diverse population and share many of the same opportunities and challenges.” The journey will “enable the exchange of experiences and approaches regarding significant shared priorities.”
