Police are pursuing a hit-and-run vehicle that, in what appears to be an intentional act, struck a Chasidic man in Crown Heights on Friday night and then left the scene.

According to the NYPD, the incident happened at Albany Avenue and Union Street intersection at about 5 o’clock.

According to the victim, who spoke to police, he was crossing Union Street while traveling north on Albany when he was struck.

The car is seen in surveillance footage of the incident blowing through a red light on Union Street and making a wide left turn onto Albany Avenue.

As he does so, the driver almost sideswipes a parked car on the opposite side of the street and strikes the man, who had entered the crosswalk about a third of the way.

Before he hit the ground, the driver pushed the victim a full car length.

As the automobile accelerated away, onlookers hurried to the scene to provide aid.

A 2017 Mercedes Benz with the license plate APS 1226 has been recognized by the police as the suspect car.

Hatzolah transported the man, who was in his fifties and had non-life-threatening injuries, to the hospital.

Although the NYPD has not formally designated the incident as one, the Crown Heights community members have speculated that it is being investigated as a biased crime.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline by calling 800-577-TIPS, texting TIP577 to 247637 (CRIMES) or going online to www.NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
