
After a significant pileup involving up to 100 vehicles in a whiteout, an interstate route has reopened in central Michigan.
By 10:00 p.m., I-96 in Ionia County reopened. Saturday, nearly five hours after the accident, in the eastbound lanes in Portland, located approximately midway between Lansing and Grand Rapids and more than 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of Detroit.
Just after 5 o’clock, according to Michigan State Police authorities, eastbound and westbound lanes were shut down on Saturday after the collision.
The MSP First District in Lansing reported some injuries but provided no further information. Later, the Grand Rapids MSP Sixth District tweeted: “Thankfully, it doesn’t seem like there are any significant injuries.”
