Rep. George Santos, a Republican who has been accused of lying repeatedly, represents New York’s Third Congressional District.
On Monday, Mike Sapraicone, a veteran NYPD investigator and private security executive with strong links to Nassau County, declared his intention to unseat him.
After Santos admitted to repeatedly lying about his background and was charged in May with a 13-count federal indictment that included multiple federal felony fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds, and false statement counts, the 67-year-old native of Queens said he wanted to restore honor to the position.
The inexperienced lawmaker maintains that he is innocent of all charges and claims to have been the target of a “witch hunt.
“Honest public service and hard work are the cornerstones of my campaign for Congress,” Sapraicone declared.
“My neighbors in Queens and Long Island deserve nothing less.” “I’m running for Congress to restore integrity and a respected voice to the position and to concentrate on issues like public safety, border security, and fiscal responsibility to get our country back on course,” I declare in my campaign platform.
Eileen Daly-Sapraicone, his wife, sits on the Nassau County State Supreme Court. He is a disgrace to the district, the state, the nation, and the entire globe.
He’s a joke,” the novice contender declared. Santos is a “stain” who tricked us, the speaker continued.
The endorsement of Sapraicone by former US Senator Al D’Amato, a longtime figurehead in the Long Island Republican Party, shows that he has genuine GOP support in the neighborhood.
